Health Care Information Market: Who Will Fill The Increasing Demand?

Every doctor’s nightmare is the patient who comes in to discuss this or that answer that they Googled up last week. While educated patients are a pleasure to work with, most of the time the material that has been researched leads to badly misinformed patients. This requires hours of work to try to explain urban legends that don’t really work. In some cases, these attempts at rational explanation are met with failure because the internet material sounds a whole lot more promising and “sexy” in some situations, and emotion is more powerful than rational thought. When faced with serious medical problems, this can mean deadly consequences. Where does that leave us?……It leaves us in extremely urgent need of self regulation instead of the probable creation of additional Draconian policies from regulatory agencies like the FTC. The former sounds like a better deal to me and is both an altruistic people-centered movement as well as a high return-on-investment proposition.   The latter is lose-lose and here’s why… There is huge opportunity out there and there is as much room as vast consumer demand will fuel. Offering quality health information can be a hugely lucrative online business opportunity, but the key is in the word “quality”. On balance, it’s very very sketchy. There is far more crap than good stuff online, because it is easy to throw it together and catch a few bucks every where you turn. Rinse and repeat several hundred times and you can be a zillionaire slum lord of health-info garbage. So, where do consumers turn to avoid this, or do they even know better? As we approach...

What is a Blog Strategy?

In the case of most people doing business online today, the first thing they do in developing a strategy for marketing is to write a blog or set up a website. This is a great place to start, but it is not the be-all and end-all of online marketing. You need more than a few words on a website to convince people that they need to buy what you are selling. And quite honestly, no one wants to read what you are writing in most cases. This is one reason why a blog strategy is vital to the success of your business. A blog strategy is a plan, a master plan that you will follow for the length of your business. In the case of an online business, of course you change your plan at any time, but by developing one early on, you can measure your success against where you thought you would be and determine what changes need to be made and when. Included in your blog strategy is your main business plan – what you are selling, to whom, and how much you plan to make. Then, the hard work begins. You need to ensure that the item you are selling is focused enough so that it is not in direct competition with a hundred others just like it. You also need to find out who would by your product and why. If you don’t know that, you won’t sell one single item. A product like Firepow can help you with these fairly significant issues. It will help you determine where your market is and how...

FTC Friendly HealthCare Affiliate Marketing?

A few days ago a story broke that the FTC is planning on monitoring blogs and other websites for tainted reviews, a current BIG approach to affiliate marketing in healthcare and other markets. Excellent!!!!  Since unwitting consumers are misled daily by reviews that are biased, this is a GREAT thing.  For one, we might have more truth in advertising. For another, this is going to be a GOLD RUSH boon for ethical affiliate marketers who know how to position themselves and their products correctly. So it comes down to this.  Assuming you are an ethical online marketer, how do you stay out of harm’s way and/or handcuffs while profiting handsomely?  The answer lies in credible and honest due diligence in promoting things.  This is important everywhere, but even more important in healthcare where people can be physically or psychologically  harmed by bad ideas, products and information. There will be greater scrutiny for marketing buzzwords like “secret ingredients” and promises of  “amazing results”.    In the place of arbitrary, unsubstantiated and even faked testimonials there will have to be evidence of more moderated and scientifically based “social proof”.  How do you get there? That is what this site is all about.  Stay tuned in so you don’t have to be forcibly tuned out.  If you think your site is hard to find and you are flying below the radar, you are dead wrong in this day of easy keyword spy and competitor research.  We use these tools.  So, do you honestly think the FTC never heard of them? If you want to read the FTC document of the upcoming  proposed...
